While attending the University of Texas at Austin our founder and head designer, Lauren Polt, attended many tailgate parties and football games (as most Longhorns do). One day she went to the local college bookstore looking to purchase clothes for the upcoming football game. She was looking to ditch the boring t-shirt look and find something original, feminine and fashionable. Unfortunately, she couldn't find anything to fit this need. After weighing her limited options, her solution was to buy a logoed t-shirt, cut it up and sew it back together her own way. When Lauren attended a tailgate party before the next game, she received non-stop compliments and praise for her unique creation. Realizing that there was a neglected niche of fashion-forward licensed collegiate apparel, the seed for chicka-d was planted.
At chicka-d, we have made the fusion of fashion and utility the foundation of our creative process. Our line is composed entirely of original and unique designs that follow the latest clothing trends. The styles are created to flatter women's bodies while maintaining comfort and wearability. Our clothes offer a fashion-forward alternative for not only game day attire but for everyday life as well.
Our fabric and clothes adhere to the highest standards for quality and durability. We use a light, breathable 92% cotton, 8% spandex blend jersey which is perfect for those hot days around campus and in the stadium.
